We have the pleasure of presenting Prof. Irene Salinas, from the Department of Biology from The University of New Mexico, USA, at our next webinar in the ISFSI Webinar Series.
The webinar is entitled “Effective mentoring and what it means for the mentor and the mentee: effective communication strategies”.
In this workshop, we will learn about the definition of mentorship and how it differs from sponsorship. The focus will be on effective mentoring of graduate students although general lessons can be applied to mentoring at other career stages. The workshop will next cover the importance of effective communication, aligning expectations, accountability and individual mentoring plans (IMDPs). I will provide some hand-on exercises and examples of lab compacts and IMPDs.
